This is the second of a series of four open calls that will give the opportunity to four artists to create site-specific artworks in the toilet of KO-OP. In addition to each exhibition, a small publication will be published reflecting the process and concept of the work. Each exhibition will be presented for a period of two and a half months.

Like the State, the Toilet Is Never Neutral*
The public toilet is a peculiar place - mundane, but also everyone’s necessity. This is a space that is not completely public. In it, we remain physically alone and perform actions that remain hidden from the knowing gaze of others. But it's not quite private, because we're never really alone there. Material traces, visible and invisible, remind of the presence of someone else. Despite its utilitarian function and domestic character, which caters to the universal needs of people, "like the state, the toilet is never neutral." The public toilet is a contested place, a world within the world. This is a microcosm where cultural layers, both the result and the cause of political struggles and socio-economic inequalities, are manifested and emphasised.
The call is open to artists from different fields. For each artistic intervention, there is a dedicated production budget and artist fee.
The publication for each exhibition will be launched at the opening and all costs towards it will be covered by the KO-OP.
