What rights do we have as freelancers in Bulgaria and how to protect them? Is it possible to use copyrighted products for free and without the author's consent? Join us for an artists' talk with Ana Lazarova from the Digital Republic Association to talk about the main aspects and principles of copyright when creating and using an artistic product.


About the speaker:


Ana Lazarova is a lawyer and industrial property attorney before the Bulgarian Patent Office and the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). Ana holds a PhD from the Department of European Studies at Sofia University. Kliment Ohridski" and teaches intellectual property law at the Faculty of Philosophy. In recent years, Ana has been actively engaged in comparative legal research and advocacy in the field of copyright at national and European level. She is Chair of the Digital Republic Association and National Coordinator (Chapter Lead) of Creative Commons Bulgaria, member of the Copyright Community Steering Group of the European Cultural Heritage Network Europeana and National Coordinator for Bulgaria of the Knowledge Rights 21 programme.

DIGITAL REPUBLIC is an association that brings together lawyers, IT professionals, artists and activists to develop policies and projects promoting access to information and the protection of digital rights. The main projects of the association are related to copyright reform in the European Union and free access to knowledge in Bulgaria.
